Intelligent systems to improve quality and productivity applied to tomato cultivation in greenhouses

The project “Smart systems for improving quality and productivity applied to tomato cultivation in greenhouses” focuses on increasing the competitiveness of small and medium-sized producers who, due to the technological gaps produced by the high cost of implementation and the need to adequate training, they cannot benefit from the advantages of modernization both in management and in economic control of operating costs.

Therefore, with the application of ICTs through tele-management systems focused on irrigation, plant and soil control, the aim is to improve the production and quality of tomatoes of small and medium-sized producers, optimizing the management and control of fertigation in cropping systems.

The expected result is an improvement in productivity and quality by at least 20%, as well as savings in water and fertilizers by more than 15%.
