IoT@as

Research on an interoperable platform for irrigation community management based on the MEGA standard proposed by the public company TRAGSA.

The project aims to develop an open platform for remote control and management systems for irrigation areas (STG) through the application of new communications technologies, interoperable protocols and low production costs for the comprehensive and efficient management of water and irrigation. energy in agricultural environments.

Agriculture is one of the most important economic and social sectors in our country, exceeding 8% of GDP, as in Europe, especially in the Mediterranean region, and in most countries in America, Asia or Africa. Hence, the role of agriculture and irrigation, due to their relevance in water management, requires innovative technological solutions and the design of policies that support their deployment, favoring both the fight against water and climate vulnerabilities, and adequate economic development.

Current technological solutions do not fully cover the needs of irrigation communities and limit their capabilities by not allowing the management of interdependencies that affect the joint management of water and energy, and are constituted as monolithic and closed solutions.

IoT@AS will provide an advanced data management platform following the FIWARE architecture at the European level that allows intelligent services in the remote control and management systems of irrigation areas (STG) and allowing interoperability between different manufacturers and consumers in the agricultural sector.

In addition, innovative equipment will be developed to combine new long-distance, low-consumption wireless technologies with satellite connections to enable economical and reliable solutions in different connectivity scenarios at a national and international level.

IoT@AS is a collaborative project between OdinS, EGATEL, ISOTRON, TRAGSA and INTEGRASYS that come together to value their experience in engineering applied to irrigation systems and satellite communications and develop an innovative solution that solves the existing problems of interoperability, efficiency and connectivity providing the opening to new markets both nationally and internationally. The IoT@AS project has been subsidized by the CDTI, supported by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, within the FEDER Innterconnect program of 2016, Exp 00091605 / ITC – 20161045.
