SICODI is an initiative framed within the INNTERCONECTA program of CDTI Innovation aimed at driving the transformation of industry towards the paradigm of factory 5.0 through the development of an open, modular and distributed cognitive industrial automation architecture.
Challenges and objectives
The project addresses the main challenges of today’s production environments, such as the rigidity of centralized SCADA architectures, cybersecurity vulnerabilities, operational latency bottlenecks, lack of resilience, and inefficient energy management, by developing an intelligent and interoperable platform. To achieve this goal, the initiative structures its work plan around five strategic activities, ranging from the conceptual design of the cognitive architecture to the integration of connectivity subsystems, robotics, a digital twin, and the subsequent validation of the prototype in a relevant industrial environment (reaching TRL 6).
Technical contribution
SICODI’s technical contribution lies in the synergistic integration of deep digital technologies (STEP): hybrid Cloud-Edge-Embedded processing with federated learning, advanced private 5G/6G communications on Open RAN architecture with adaptive slicing, cybersecurity with post-quantum encryption (TLS-PQC) and blockchain-based traceability for the Digital Product Passport (DPP).
This digital infrastructure supports the deployment of collaborative mobile robotics platforms assisted by Language Models (LLMs) and Explanatory Artificial Intelligence (XAI), immersive digital twins with real-time 3D LiDAR capture, and energy optimization systems for processes geared towards renewable self-consumption.
This project has received funding from CDTI with FEDER 2021-2027 funds through the Innterconecta STEP Regional Consortiums aid program.
