MUNICIPAL

Odin Solutions promotes the interoperability of urban digital twins with the European MUNICIPAL project.

Odin Solutions is participating in MUNICIPAL , a European project led by the Murcia City Council, within the framework of the LDT4SSC call for proposals. The initiative brings together seven entities from Spain, Greece, Denmark, and Cyprus to develop the next generation of urban digital twins , focused on interoperability, secure data exchange, and scaling of Smart City services across different European cities.

Context

Digital twins have evolved beyond being simple 3D visual replicas; their true value lies in their ability to make operational decisions based on real-time data. However, the main technical challenge for the sector is no longer building these models, but ensuring that different cities and platforms can connect with each other using common standards.

The MUNICIPAL project addresses this challenge by connecting Murcia’s digital twin—building on its existing infrastructure ( MiMurcia and the CEUS center)—with other European urban ecosystems such as Nicosia (Cyprus). This collaborative network enables the cross-cutting sharing of data, services, and smart city solutions, laying the foundation for hyperconnected urban management.

Goals

MUNICIPAL’s central purpose is to transform local technological assets into scalable and reusable digital infrastructures that optimize public services and urban planning.

Within this consortium, Odin Solutions contributes its expertise in IoT engineering, interoperable data platforms, and digital twins to achieve the following milestones:

  • Standardization and interoperability: Connecting heterogeneous urban platforms through open data architectures so that different administrations can securely share information.

  • Optimization of urban services: Applying data analytics to digital twins to improve operational management of mobility, energy efficiency, urban planning and public services.

  • Data-driven decision making: Providing local governments with advanced simulation tools to anticipate the impact of their policies before implementing them.

  • Development of scalable smart services: Designing technological solutions together with international partners that can be easily deployed and replicated in other cities in the European Union.
