PRECIMED is a project coordinated by CEBAS-CSIC that seeks to improve water and nutrient use efficiency in the Mediterranean region. The research, led by Dr. María Fernanda Ortuño and Dr. Juan José Alarcón from the Irrigation Department of CEBAS-CSIC, will allow the project consortium to launch a data-driven irrigation management tool, integrating knowledge on fertilizers and irrigation water management with Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs).

This tool will be tested and validated by farmers in the different countries participating in the project. PRECIMED is funded through the PRIMA (Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area) foundation, which seeks to support initiatives in the Mediterranean area to improve agri-food and water management systems. It has been endowed with nearly half a million euros and has a duration of 36 months. Together with CEBAS-CSIC, the consortium is formed by the Spanish SME, ODIN Solutions S.L.; the University of Thessaly, Greece; the University of Sfax, Tunisia; and the National Institute for Agricultural Research, INRAA, Algeria.
