IoT Trust – Internet of Things Security

horas frio frutales

IoTrust will implement and validate a reliable, open and human-centric solution for configuring and maintaining IoT networks based on the development and integration of a novel bootstrap protocol, Peer-to-Peer and Distributed Ledger technologies to provide secure initialization of IoT devices. vulnerability detection and software patching / reprogramming. The proposed solution builds on recent standardization and research activities, such as the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) draft “Secure IoT Bootstrapping” and the Interplanetary Peer-to-Peer File System (IPFS) with distributed accounting technology to secure decentralized IoT networks. The main expected outcome will be a standards-based solution with open source stacks for IoT devices and a distributed services platform that will be supported by a real-world pilot validation.

Project objectives.

  • Design an open, human-centric IoTrust solution to increase user confidence and the application of secure IoT networks in global sectors such as Smart Cities, Industry 4.0, etc.
  • Develop and integrate novel bootstrapping, peer-to-peer and distributed accounting technologies to achieve reliable IoT networks and maintain a decentralized Internet infrastructure.
  • Validate the technical features, key performance indicators and cyber attack protections of IoTrust’s minimum viable product (MVP) through the use of lab tests and real-world pilots.
  • Conduct dissemination activities and joint exploitation plan taking full advantage of the real pilot show casting process and coaching / mentoring process in order to foster valuable stakeholder involvement and successful exploitation / commercialization of results beyond the project.

The IoTrust project has received funding from the EUH2020 NGI research and innovation program under grant agreement number 825618.
