The research center needed to analyze the behavior of fish in aquariums, evaluating their movement and activity patterns throughout the day-night cycle. A solution was required to monitor these changes, study the impact of lighting on their behavior, and conduct experiments under different lighting conditions.
Implemented Technology
To address this challenge, IoTConnector and IPex16 devices were implemented, configured in a master-slave system. Sensors capable of adjusting the lighting based on an astronomical calendar were integrated, ensuring a controlled environment. Furthermore, light intensity was optimized to prevent algae growth caused by excessive light. Thanks to the WiClouds platform, real-time monitoring of lighting levels was enabled using lux meters, and fish movement was monitored via photocells. The platform allows for remote parameter configuration, generation of graphs from the collected data, and the establishment of automated alerts.
Results
The implemented solution enabled:
- Automation and precise control of the lighting environment based on the day-night cycle.
- Optimizing habitat conditions, preventing algae growth, and adapting the light to the needs of the fish.
- Detailed analysis of fish behavior using real-time data and comparative graphs.
- Greater efficiency in research, thanks to remote monitoring and adaptable lighting and alert configuration.
This technological solution has significantly improved the quality and accuracy of studies at the research center, providing a key tool for the observation and analysis of animal behavior.
