What is the field notebook?
The Digital Field Notebook or CUE , is an electronic tool used by Spanish farmers and ranchers to record and organize relevant information about activities and events that occur in the field.
This Notebook must include mandatory minimum data , including general information on the crop, the production of each agricultural plot, phytosanitary treatments, fertilization, irrigation, the marketed harvest and analytics.
Why is the field notebook so important?
Because the CUE or digital field notebook will be mandatory from September 1, 2024 for: Greenhouses, more than 30 hectares of crops or permanent pastures, 10 or more hectares of permanent crops or more than 5 hectares of irrigated land and from January 1, 2025 for the rest . In addition, your monthly update will be required to request aid, compensation or subsidies.
What is SIEX?
Another concept that we must add to our vocabulary is SIEX, the Agricultural Holding Information System . This will be the database and administrative records that will store, in a standardized way , all the information on agricultural holdings in Spain. Where does that information come from? From the Field Notebook, which must be integrated with the SIEX.
The SIEX aims to efficiently manage the CAP, the environmental objectives and, ultimately, everything that happens on agricultural farms.
The need to have a Digital Field Notebook is inevitable and imminent. Therefore, if you have not yet implemented it on your farm, it is time to do so and make sure that you meet all the requirements of this new standard.
