UniMaaS

Unified Modeling and Automated Scheduling for Manufacturing as a Service

Manufacturing in Europe urgently needs to address the following challenges to adopt the manufacturing-as-a-service paradigm: product customization, circularity and sustainability, minimal downtime, predictive maintenance, seamless communication, reliability and resilience in the face of demand uncertainty and resource variability, and cost reduction and performance optimization.

The Unified Modeling and Automated Scheduling for Manufacturing as a Service ( UniMaaS ) project will develop a platform with a set of advanced technologies to offer flexible, decentralized manufacturing resources and supply chains as a service to European SMEs and industries.

To realize this vision, the proposed platform will deploy three integrated suites:

  1. Data Modeling Suite: Offers manufacturing data spaces, cloud-based resource monitoring, data exchange between trusted companies, and a digital product passport.
  2. Modeling Suite: Offers modular manufacturing resource modeling, intent-based servitization, AI-based estimating, and Zero-X analytics
  3. Decision-Making Suite: Offers manufacturing resource scheduling and planning, optimizing circularity and sustainability.

The platform will adopt advanced digital technologies such as cloud computing, digital twins, and trusted AI as key elements to achieve its objectives. The UniMaaS platform will provide easy access to the customized manufacturing service chain and support the full lifecycle management of processes and products. The UniMaaS suites and platform will be demonstrated in four pilot projects, including aircraft maintenance, automotive seating, 3D printing for construction, and logistics and warehouse management.
